About us

The Library opened to the public on March 1st, 1995. In 1993, it was established just as a teaching support for the students of the Economics and Business degree course of the Faculty of Economics of La Sapienza University, the first university course activated in Latina.

In 1997, during an official ceremony, the library was named after the senator Mario Costa, the former President of the “Consorzio per l’Università Pontina” (a local organization who instituted the first university courses in Latina). Mario Costa worked tirelessly for the development of the university in the city of Latina and this dedication was officialised by a bronze plaque given during the ceremony in 1997.

At first, the library was supplied with library materials in the economic-legal field, then expanded in the technical-scientific and biomedical fields, when other degree courses were activated in the Latina location: at the Faculty of Economics were later added the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Information Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicine.

The "M. Costa" Library is part of the Research and Service Center for Sustainable Technological Development (Ce.R.S.I.Te.S.) of Sapienza University - Latina location.
